•••In January 2020, The Finnish Accreditation Service (FINAS), Finland’s national accreditation authority, conducted a certification inspection in the operations of KCL Laboratory’s paper testing services (T295), FINAS conclusions resulted in re-validation of its accreditation for another four-year period.

•••How to apply a small amount of material on a surface?
•••A circular economy, recyclability and the reduction of plastics are current themes related to the transformation of the biomaterial industry. New materials have to be environmentally-friendly and moreover preferably biodegradable too. During the product development phase of new biomaterials, also recyclability of the materials and further utilization of the recycled based materials should be considered.
•••The KCL pilot plant stock preparation system offers an excellent environment for testing numerous kinds of biomaterials with possibility to customize and upscale processes up to the demo production phase.

•••Fiber based materials are replacing traditional plastic thus increasing demand on new barrier materials against moisture, vapor, grease and gases
•••Curtain coating results in an even surface covering of board or paper, often providing functionality e.g. barrier properties. The materials mostly need to be printable, convertible and preferably recyclable.
•••KCL continuously invests in its testing, research and development facilities. The most recent updated achievement involves CTMP.
